Aziz Z. Huq

Aziz Z. Huq is the Frank and Bernice J. Greenberg Professor of Law and the Mark Claster Mamolan Teaching Scholar at the University of Chicago. His scholarship focuses broadly on how institutional design influences individual rights and liberties. His book How to Save a Constitutional Democracy (with Tom Ginsburg) was published by the University of Chicago Press in October 2018, and won the International Society of Public Law I-CON Book Prize (2019). Before teaching, Huq worked as associate counsel and then director of the Liberty and National Security Project of the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law. He was also a senior consultant analyst for the International Crisis Group. He clerked for Judge Robert D. Sack of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court.
