Alexia Ramirez

Alexia Ramirez is a legal fellow at the Knight First Amendment Institute. Prior to joining the Institute, she clerked for Magistrate Judge Robert M. Levy of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Ramirez was also the William J. Brennan Fellow with the ACLU’s Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project, where she worked on issues related to surveillance and free expression. Her work included the successful challenge brought by community leaders and activists in Baltimore to the city’s wide-area aerial surveillance program in Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle v. Baltimore Police DepartmentRamirez holds a B.A. in political science from Brown University and a J.D. from New York University School of Law. During law school, she was a student clinician in NYU’s Technology Law and Policy Clinic, a student fellow in NYU’s Privacy Research Group, and an executive editor of the NYU Review of Law and Social Change. She also interned with the Knight Institute, the Brennan Center for Justice's Liberty and National Security Program, and the Policing Project at NYU.
